Bio:

Claire Litton has been dancing since 1993, teaching since 1997, and acting as co-artistic director for Khafif Music and Dance since 2001. Khafif was voted Best Kept Secret for 2007 by Zaghareet Magazine's Golden Belly Awards, and Claire has taught at conventions all across the US and Canada. You can find Claire online at www.khafif.com/safadancer and you can also feel free to ask her any questions you like: about dancing, life, or whether or not the new Doctor Who is better than the old one. The answer to that one is, "Yes."

Bellydance Bootcamp 11am-1pm

Feeling a little lazy or tired? Bellydance Bootcamp will get you fired up! This two-hour intensive training workshop covers strength training, muscular isolations, drills, and more, to whip you into shape bellydance style!

Sassy Combos 2pm-4pm

If you want a little more sass in your bellydance, this combos class will spice you up like a guacamole! Use these blended movements with Silk Road stylings to create a unique flair in your dancing! Class will cover several intensive combinations and discuss how to create combinations from scratch.

The Basket Dance

A three hour workshop introducing balancing and a variety of challenging moves, culminating in a beautiful 3-minute choreography adaptable to any level of dancer.

Zills, Drills & Thrills

A three hour crash course in finger cymbals, including basic music theory, Middle Eastern Rhythms, and several short drills to enhance your zill practise.

How to Flirt Like a Pro!

Learn tips and tricks and fun moves that will help you express your joy in dance and connect with your audience. Gain confidence, and get the play into your dance practice! Find out how to flirt professionally, play “Let’s Pretend” and keep an audience’s attention while holding on to your mystical allure and power. The workshop will cover mood, interpretation, and how to convey emotion in your dance, as well as how to enhance your eyes with makeup.

Beautiful Arms & Hands

If isolations and hip bumps are the meat and potatoes of bellydance, then strong and graceful arms and hands are dessert!

Learn practical and beautiful arm positions for all bellydance occasions, discover the secrets of graceful hand movements, and sweat through some great strengthening exercises and stretches. Styles covered will be Cabaret, Tribal, Bollywood, and Tribal Fusion, with a little Spanish Flamenco thrown in for good measure.

Belly Dance Costuming

From simple harem pants and skirts, to the construction and covering and embellishing of bras and belts, these workshops will help you enhance your dance through lush costuming. Lots of emphasis is placed on designing for your body and finding the proper fit.
